BRAIN HAT

Photo:  Pinterest

What a fun way to get kids interested in learning more about the brain!   Also would be fun to wear to Walmart as you never know what you will see there and could keep things interesting.

They can create a brain hat with a free download by a homeschooling mom over at A School of Fish.  There are also some other recommended teaching tools as well.

76 YEARS AGO AUSCHWITZ WAS LIBERATED

76 years ago today, the concentration camp at Auschwitz was liberated.

This day is to pay respect to those that lost their lives during the Holocaust.

NBC News reported that most of this year's celebrations are being held online due the pandemic.

"Most International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorations were being held online this year due to the virus, including the annual ceremony at the site of the former Auschwitz death camp, where Nazi German forces killed 1.1 million people in occupied Poland. The memorial site is closed to visitors because of the pandemic.

In one of the few live events, mourners gathered in Poland's capital to pay their respects at a memorial in the former Warsaw ghetto, the largest of all the ghettos where European Jews were held in cruel and deadly conditions before being sent to die in mass extermination camps.

FACEBOOK AD: AD VERSUS REALITY - BABY YODA TOY

If you have ever ordered anything off of a Facebook ad there is a good possibility you might not have gotten what you think you ordered.

This happened to a friend of mine.

What was advertised on Facebook ad:

What was received:

I think she was getting irritated as I could not stop laughing.  I told her it looks like it was a hand puppet of baby Yoda's evil twin.  There is no cuteness in that face.

I had to tell her not to feel to bad; at least she received something.  The last time I ordered something off Facebook I didn't receive it at all.

PIZZA DELIVERED TO TROOPS AT THE CAPITOL

Source

A plethora of pizzas delivered to troops at the Capitol is not an every day event.

From a post on People.com:

"A Washington, D.C., pizza shop is doing its part to support the National Guard members stationed at the Capitol ahead of Wednesday's inauguration.

We the Pizza, which is located on Capitol Hill, delivered 150 pizza pies to the troops on Tuesday after receiving a call from Representatives Michael Waltz and Vicky Hartzler, requesting the pies, Today reported."

The post indicated they expect to deliver up to 300 pizzas a day until the virtual Inauguration scheduled for Wednesday.

Further, if you would like to donate a pizza the post stated:

"We the Pizza also set up a form online where people can donate a pie to the National Guard for $12.

For each pie that is donated, We the Pizza intends on matching it, according to Micheline Mendelsohn, the deputy CEO of the company that owns We the Pizza."

NEW YEARS EVE 2020 CELEBRATIONS AROUND THE WORLD

(All photo are screen shots from NBC's video below)

Here is a brief sampling of New Years Eve celebrations around the world as showcased by NBC.

COVID-19 concerns changed how many places handled celebrations this year and some places cancelled them entirely, but some of the ones that did had specatular displays (see short video by NBC at bottom of post).

We watched the ball drop in New York on television and there were some first responders and medical professionals allowed distanced in areas on the street, but for the most part, it was eerily empty when then zoomed out to show the empty streets nearby.

Pyongyang, North Korea

Athens, Greece

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Berlin, Germany

Dubai, UAE

Bangkok, Thailand

Taipei, Taiwan

And a few other major cities cancelled due to restrictions:
  • Hong Kong
  • Paris, France
  • London, England
How did you celebrate New Year's Eve this year?
