In a world full of cookie-cutter houses, it is cool to see one-of-a-kind storybook-type ones being built out of recycled materials in an artistic way.
This was shared through a Facebook group I follow /UpCycledClothCollective that was posted on
Building Home on Facebook.
Builder/Designer Dan Phillips not only uses recycled materials, but he hires only unskilled labor in the actual building process to teach them a marketable skill. The houses he builds are much less per square foot then standard houses and he mostly builds for single parents, artists and low-income families. Because of this, not only is he building a unique home, he is also building a community.
