Happy Halloween and More Decorated Houses

I had hoped to snap pics of Trick or Treaters to post, but nearly all Trick Or Treating was canceled in this area and rescheduled due to the freezing cold and blowing winds.

It was so cold this evening, we actually had our first snow, which is early for this area.

Here are few pictures I snapped of more decorated houses within Fort Wayne city limits.

Above is a pretty cool pirate ship with glowing pirates.

Below is a house decorated to make the house look like a face and the stairway up almost looks like a tongue ready to snatch up its prey.

This yard has a variety of popluar characters

This archway has  dragon head on the to top

A Very Decorated House For Halloween

I spotted this highly decorated house for Halloween near the corner of Oakdale and Fairfield in Fort Wayne, Indiana,

There were lots of details so I have included several pictures to try to capture them.

Overview from the street

Front center of yard

Right side of yard; looks like Pennywise from "IT" decided he wanted to get a little exercise and ride that bike.  The fella in the red coat seems to try to be saying Disco is not dead.

Ghost in the window watching the pirate skeleton and his parrot skeleton hang out.  They, in turn, are watching a cowboy skeleton on a horse skeleton.

Arh Matey!  It is the Pirates and their ship!

Graveyard in the lawn in front.  Pennywise decides it is time for an outfit change for a party and more party goers nearby and in the background.
A slightly closer view of the above

Even the entranceway has a skeleton, a spooky totem, and Jack-o-lanterns

View from the street from the right side of the house

Large Skulls in the tree out front on the easement

5 Creepy Halloween DIYs

As I have not seen most of these elsewhere I am posting these fun ideas here with a few notes from my crafting experience.
  1. Intestines Cinnamon Bake
Obviously, this is not for a diabetic.  Also as that is a lot of sugar, you might want to try a natural calorie-free sweetener to cut down on calories.

       2.   Head in a Jar
Although this is not a new idea, adding the hair is and  moss is,   For the hair you could probably use something from Dollar Tree in this toy section or even an old hair extension or wig.
Hot glue will attach something quickly, but it will not last up being in water; I would recommend E6000, Amazing Goop or other clear, strong glue.

      3.   Creepy Eyeballs

Ping Pong balls would be a great substitute for the styrofoam one and you could use a Sharpies instead of paint.
       4.  Spider and stuff Ice Cubes
While this is a cool effect, it could be a choking hazard.
Better alternatives if you wanted to try this would be to use in a punch bowl to fish around the ice cubes or to freeze in the cubes then freeze those cubes in a larger bowl or tray and put into a punch bowl.
You would want to wash the plastic items in antibacterial soap and thoroughly rinse the plastic items before putting into the trays.
A better alternative would be to get ice cube trays that make spooky shapes, such as bats, skulls, etc. to make ice cubes.  Dollar Tree usually has at least one themed ice cube tray around Halloween.
       5.  Skull Plate
Keep in mind this would be just for decoration and not something you can eat off off.
Also, this technique can be tricky and easy to mess up so you need to be patient and careful in rubbing off the paper.   After brushing the decopague on top and allowing to dry you might want to spray a clear coat of clear spray paint to help preserve.  (This too would just be for decoration, not something you can eat off of).
For more of a DIY vibe, but less professional-looking results, would be to use a marker/pen that is designed for use on ceramics and use a stencil or draw a skull-free hand.

Teen Girl Dresses as Tired Mom for Halloween

Photo:  Lindsay Hartsock / Via Facebook: hartsocksphotography*F - Via Buzzfeed

This clever young gal is dressing up as a tired Mom for Halloween.  While the baby in one hand, Starbucks cup in the other and toddler attached to her leg, the article on Buzzfeed shows details such as the Cheerios in her hair, nursing pad tucked in shirt, stains on shirt,  Binkie attached to her bra strap, diaper shoved in her leggings, makeup for dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep.

As the teen is one of 9 children, her inspiration for this post like likely her own Mother.

For more details, visit the post over at Buzzfeed.

6 Easy DIY Spider Web T-Shirts You Can Make In An Evening

As I love to DIY, I thought I would share six easy DIY Spider web t-shirts from blogs I follow or stumbled across that you can make in an evening using simple techniques with items you may have on hand or are low cost.

The above T-shirt by 100 Directions DIY Spiderweb T-shirt using Tulip Glow In The Dark Paint in under 15 minutes!  For details visit her blog here.

DIY Black Widow T-Shirt at one of my favorite blogs, Trash To Couture, using a short sleeve plain black t-shirt to make the webs to glue or sew to a long sleeve black t-shirt. Check out her instructions here,

Photo:  Source

The above project is a No-Sew T-shirt web by mmmmqc on Instructables.com that involves cutting the back then weaving the fabric to create a design.

For the complete instructions visit Instructable.com

This fun t-shirt idea by Paint Brushes and Popsicles doesn't involve any cutting; just a t-shirt, cardboard, clips and bleach pen and simple enough for children to do with supervision.

For the DIY visit her site here,

Here is another fun idea from Trash to Couture to make another spider web t-shirt using a plain black t-shirt.  For instructions see her site here

This DIY project by JoAnn Fabrics is just using making tape and taping down a spider web design then using Tulip Colorshot paint that they sell to spray over the top, then you just pull up the tape and you have an instant spiderweb shirt!

Which one do you like the best or do you have another idea?  Please feel free to post in the Comments section.

Decorated Pumpkins

These are some decorated pumpkins that I spotted downtown on Display at Fright Night.

The Smurf must have gotten into a tussle as he lost an eye.  Guess that will teach him to mess with Elmo.

I think I like the "Stranger Things" pumpkin the best, but think the Spa pumpkins with their face creams on and the multi-decorated pom poms are the most creative of the bunch.

Which pumpkin(s) do you like best?

Jack-O'-Lantern Pizza at Papa John's

From now until the end of the month, Papa John's is offering a

Jack-O'-Lantern Pizza.

It is a thin crust large pepperoni pizza with two black olives for the eyes.  It comes uncut so as not to spoil the Jack-O-Lantern effect.   It has the same taste as a normal thin crust pepperoni pizza but some parts have a higher concentration of pepperoni or cheese so it tastes slightly different than normal due to that, but still is something fun and different for the season.

It is available now until the end of the month.  Where I live it is $11, but prices may vary).

Fright Night - Zombie Walk 2019 - Downtown Fort Wayne

Mike Myers, Zombie Brides, and Dinosaurs, OH MY!

It was a treat to see the wide variety of costumes worn by people of all ages for this year's Zombie Walk.

The camera I took to capture the event from the beginning didn't work out, but I did walk back two blocks and was able to capture the above on the camera on my phone.

Which costume(s) did you like best?  Do you have an event like this in your area?  Please feel free to post in the Comments section below.

Photo:   Source

Here is a roundup of 8 Unique Children's Costumes from around the web.

In the above picture, Mom Darcy that submitted the photo in 2014  to at Costume-Works.com and indicated:

"This is a costume I made for our daughter. She loves Pixar movies and watches them over and over again. She get excited when the Pixar lamp hops around the screen at the beginning of the movies".
How she made it along with more pictures are posted here.

CAPTAIN HOOK BEING DEVOURED BY A CROCODILE

This one will make to you a double-take!

DIY loving Mom  created this for her young son's first real Halloween and stated:
"Loving a little dark humor I thought a crocodile eating a baby was a great costume. However, in the middle of making it, it struck me - Captain Hook! How funny?!"

She advised she made it for between $35-$50 and posted a How-To at Instructables.com

Bob Ross Inspired

I have to say this is another one of my favorites with the addition of the squirrel and doll leg on the pallet to give it a creep factor.

This is an entry by a user at Costume-Works.com of a Tiny Bob Ross - Halloween Costume Contest  and the submitter, Traci indicated:

" My 10 year old daughter has latched on to Joy of Painting on Netflix and I was super excited when she asked to be Bob Ross this year."
It is the quiet ones you have to watch out for!

How adorable and clever is this costume?

Mom Ann at A Party Style blogged:

"So simple and also so timeless - both the young and old can relate.  Even our elderly neighbors got a kick out of this costume.

Deer Head over Fireplace

This young fella is not looking too happy in the Deer Head over the Fireplace - Halloween Costume, but then again, how would you feel if your head cut off and stuffed for a home decor?

This was a 2012 submission at Contest at Costume-Works.com:  The submitter, Whitney advised:
"This is my sons costume for Halloween 2012I always try to think of something different and he loves deers and this was the costume he decided on it was fairly simple..."

 Crazy Cat Lady

If I ever have a granddaughter, I for sure want to dress her up like this once year!  I think I think the best added touch is the cat on the one elbow with a bandagw..

Michelle at Crafty Morning indicates on her blog that thanks goes to Credit goes to Sarah Jane Faughn and her sweet daughter, Millie, for the photo and costume idea!

Candy Corn Pizza

Apparently, this trend started in 2017 after a post on Twitter when a poster topped a frozen pizza with candy corn, baked it and posted it online.

It divided people with most of heavily being on the negative side, like in the video above and like the Twitter poster below:

Of course if you are a sugar-loving kid, you might have a different opinion as this young gal tried the original version of candy corn dumped on a frozen pizza and liked it.

For one that more people might like though, I have to agree with the video from Mashed that using a cookie-like base, peanut butter, and Reeces Pieces would be an improvement and could actually be delicious.

I have made "Fruit" pizza (which everyone loved) and the base for that was a sugar cookie crust topped with cream cheese and powdered sugar "sauce" and topped with cut-up fresh fruit, like Kiwi, Strawberries, and Pineapple.  I think using candy corn with a sprinkling of other candy toppings might work well also.

I think this might be fun to try if you have a child as they may like it and enjoy how it grosses the adults out.

It also could be fun to have at a party or carry-in, although this makes me think of a phrase I overhead a woman a Costco buying something that might be gross to serve at a party "It's will be fine.  I also bought a lot of alcohol.  Somebody will eat it".

What are your thoughts on Candy Corn pizza...Yeah or Nay?  Is it something you think you would try?   Please feel free to comment below.
