Artist Uses Sewing Machine Powered by a Bicycle to Create Portraits




A young artist has a unique approach to creating portraits; she uses a sewing machine
powered by a bicycle to create unique portraits around the world.

In the video, the artist, Harriet Institchyou Riddell, said her art teacher suggested she bring a 
sewing machine to class to stitch the naked models and as her sketches looked like stitching.

She had the idea of getting others involved by having them ride a bicycle to generate the 
electricity in order to operate her sewing machine.
