Doesn't it sound like a plague of locusts in the video below? These were actually a popular children's toy for several years in the 1970s.
My Mom called them worse than that after she made the mistake of buying my brother a set for Christmas back when they came out in the and we would have them going at the same time. My Mom didn't swear often, but the Klacker headaches she would get from the continual Klack, Klack, Klack would bring forth words that normally would not come out of her mouth.
Then there was the inevitable Klacker mishap where it might fly out and hit your sibling or yourself in the eye/arm/face and those suckers were like giant marbles and hurt like heck if you go thwapped with one.
