From a translation from s post on The Classic Times. com:
"This original vehicle is one of the three delivery vans that were manufactured in 1935, based on the chassis and engines of the English car Singer Popular 9 HP. The bodywork of the vehicles was carried out completely by hand in the workshop of Pablo Díaz Fernández, in Madrid, builder of the original Juan de la Cierva prototypes. The total price of each vehicle was 12,284 pesetas. (Chassis and engine 5,416 pesetas / bodywork 7,408 pesetas)
The service they usually provided was that of home delivery and itinerant sales in the places of leisure and recreation of the time (Casa de Campo, Dehesa de la Villa, El Pardo, El Plantío, etc.). As their load capacity was reduced, they were supplied from a larger van that acted as a “nursemaid”.
Driving these cars required special skill, since their propellers gained momentum with the movement, literally lifting the vehicle off the ground, with the instability that this entailed, both in the direction and in the braking system, so after occasional scare, a propeller locking system had to be designed."
A chain of pastry shop called "VIENA CAPELLANES" is restoring the vehicles to use for deliveries.
