During the Depression there were shortages and rationing of all types of foods and people had to make do with what they have.

This is what a well-balanced meal looked like in 1976, especially if your family was in a tight budget:

• Dairy -  Milk and butter added to the dinner mix, not to mention the dehydrated cheese packet for the sauce.

• Bread - Pasta 

• Meat  - slice of processed ham

• Vegetables -  pickle and parsley.  yep, we were told to eat is as it "freshened our breath".
