UNUSUAL DECORATION: VINTAGE COMMODES OUTSIDE A FILTRATION PLANT

This was posted on my hometown group where I was originally from.  It is outside the filtration plant.

Have to admit that seeing a group of vintage commodes, probably from the late 60s to late70's when having a commode to match to match your decor was a thing and turning the center one into a planter is not something you would see everyday and using them as decoration is saving them from a landfill.

DIY RETRO JAMES BOND VILLAIN CHAIR

Can you believe the '60's James Bond evil villain-inspired chair is made from a board, Foam core, X-Acto knife, T square, switches, metallic poster board, fake leather, fake jewels, a lazy Susan from a kitchen, and a hot glue gun?.   It is!

Markus of MarkusPix, who was a Hollywood set designer/artist (among many things), shows how it is made in the video below.

VINTAGE: ANTIQUE TOILET PAPER HOLDERS

It looks like way back when people gave toilet paper the respect it deserves by perching it in a fancy, ornate holder, instead of a generic stainless steel holder with a supersize plastic Charmin insert to hold the double sized rolls of today.

When I was a kid I was fed a steady dose of silver screen legend John Wayne westerns, war movies, and cop dramas, but it was not until recently I stumbled across a picture of him as a young man.

It is hard to believe the rough and tumble tough guy was such a fresh-faced young lad.

Back in the day before the internet and cell phones, postcards were a way to keep in touch with people as they usually had a picture or drawing on the front, a small space to write a note, and cost less to send than a letter so they were more budget-friendly.   

This postcard is from over 109 years ago now, from an Aunt to her niece about seeing Santa and telling him to bring her niece a big doll.

This was from a closed Facegroup that I am on, but as it is from a public source, I thought I would share it here.

Marilyn Monroe...With A Turkey

It looks like the poor turkey was upstaged by Marilyn Monroe.

Neatorama indicates it is a holiday photoshoot from 1950, but what I found amusing was a comment  by a user named Wonky Donky:

"You need a speech bubble by that turkey's head saying something like, "Sweet Jesus, will you look at those drumsticks!"

REPURPOSED: Old Sewing Machine to Rocking Horse Art Piece

This was posted by a member on a Facebook group I belong to, Upcycled Cloth Collective that spotted it at an art fair where someone has repurposed a vintage sewing machine into a Rocking Horse art piece.

One of the Commented stated "Sew Cool".
