Cat Friendly Christmas Tree Alternatives

Photo:  Source Unknown

Cats are notorious for climbing Christmas trees.  Growing up we had many cats any my Mom tied the Christmas Tree to the wall using a jump rope and a hook screwed into a beam in the wall.to keep it from falling over when the cats went on their adventure in a near-naked tree.

If you are handy with woodworking or have a family member or friend that is, the above cat tree would be a great alternative, provided the ornaments are plastic and tied on securely.

If not,  Catster has a post on an Easy DIY Cat Friendly Christmas Tree alternative using a shelf from IKEA.

Another alternative if you have the wall space would be to create the look of a Christmas Tree with garland or tinsel, but high enough up to deter kitty from trying to get at it.

The above is by clever cartoonist John Atkinson and does seem to sum up many of the Hallmark Christmas movies I have seen (yet enjoy watching anyway!).

U.S. Soldier's Family Christmas Float

Photo: I am an American Soldier

This float is a depiction of a soldier's family at Christmas.

If you can, there are many organization's that you can donate to help, such as USO Wishbook.   Also, Dollar Tree usually asks this time of year if you would like to donate a toy (they usually have a few in a basket by the registers).

Please keep our military service personnel in your thoughts and prayers this holiday season.

Not Quite Elf On A Shelf

Might not be Elf on a Shelf, but think it would be clever to incorporate into that for kids.

Reindeer Boobs

This trend is just so wrong on many levels.

At least on a fella, like the ones below, it could be a little bit funny, but also not practical as it defeat the reason for wearing a sweater, to stay warm, but also the gross out factor if you have to be sitting across a dinner table for such a sight.

The one at the bottom at least the woman has used a sock and covers herself so not quite as bad, but to be a female with a decorated exposed breast is so L'il Kim 1999 MTV VMAish,  Have seen the Mickey Mouse version of this on the internet so not original on decorating it to look like an animal either.

It is also a bit trashy and inappropriate, especially in light of the sexual harassment scandals in the news media.  It will be hard to take a woman seriously that complains about being a sex object when she is proudly putting hers on display leaving little to the imagination.  So if you feel the need to decorate your boob like a reindeer, consider the weather, consider boobs female or male could be viewed as offensive and opt for using a flesh toned fabric underneath to decorate instead.

The Nativity Story - As Told By Children and Portrayed by Adults

Kids interpret things in their own way and a website I follow on Facebook posted this cute video by the Southland Christian Church where some children tell their interpretation of the Nativity and it is acted out by adults.

I love how they use the kids voices and how the adults act it out, but not sure how Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh became a purple hippo, a gallon a gallon of milk and Pampers and baby wipes, although all those things are things they have probably seen people bring as gifts when younger siblings are born.

What was your favorite part?

These are probably the most un-peppiest pups I have ever seen, yet they look adorable in the their holiday costumes.

"Mary Did You Know" performed by Singing Contractors

It is not every day you will see a pair or singing contractors, let alone a pair that will do as well as this duo in delivering a powerful rendition of "Mary Did You Know" acapella in an empty garage.
