HOT FOOD AND BEVERAGE TRENDS FOR 2018

This interesting infograph from The Food People indicates what the expected trends are for the year, from the reigniting of retro trends like cut glass glasses and fine china and Next Gen Mixers that can be added to alcohol or just consumed as is to fast and healthy food and more of a focus brain health and fresh air, with some places offering it as a selling point to their establishment.

There is also be be a trend of grocery stores offering more "Grocerants" that offer in-store dining in groceries and more street food markets, along with food hybrids with mixing of cultures and probably the most unique being "Acellular Agriculture" with science creating foods with bacteria and yeasts instead of a plant or animal source.

All are certainly food for thought.  Are you seeing any of the trends in your area?  Which ones do you like?

A Tornado in the Winter?

Photo:  NWSGaylord Facebook Page taken by James and Jen Lawson

The National Weather Service/Gaylord Facebook Page posted on their Facebook page that the above that looks like a tornado is a waterspout (a vortex of water off the lake) due to the lake effect on the snow near Peshawbestown, MI. Just add sharks and you have the premise for the next "Sharknado" movie.

Reindeer Boobs

This trend is just so wrong on many levels.

At least on a fella, like the ones below, it could be a little bit funny, but also not practical as it defeat the reason for wearing a sweater, to stay warm, but also the gross out factor if you have to be sitting across a dinner table for such a sight.

The one at the bottom at least the woman has used a sock and covers herself so not quite as bad, but to be a female with a decorated exposed breast is so L'il Kim 1999 MTV VMAish,  Have seen the Mickey Mouse version of this on the internet so not original on decorating it to look like an animal either.

It is also a bit trashy and inappropriate, especially in light of the sexual harassment scandals in the news media.  It will be hard to take a woman seriously that complains about being a sex object when she is proudly putting hers on display leaving little to the imagination.  So if you feel the need to decorate your boob like a reindeer, consider the weather, consider boobs female or male could be viewed as offensive and opt for using a flesh toned fabric underneath to decorate instead.

Golden Retriever Dog Display

om: Instagram /antoniothegolden/

From a distance it is harder to tell, but once you get close up (like the picture below) you can tell only one of the dogs is real.  How long did it take you to spot the real dog in the video?

Christmas Tree Eyebrows

This year has seen a lot of eyebrow trends and now, just in time for the Holiday's are Christmas Tree Brows.  While not practical for everyday, would be a fun look to pair with an gawdy Christmas sweater for an Ugly Christmas Sweater party.

Pole Dancing Christmas Elf

Originally posted by Domenico Vaccaro on his Facebook page and took place on at Rome at Officine Farneto.

This young acrobatic elf shows off his upper body strength and contortion-ism in this unique pole dance interpretation of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas".  I think the part in the beginning where it looks like he was walking 360 degrees was pretty amazing and not something I have ever seen before.

An added bonus is the boy about 10 years old that stands up and looks around about halfway through like he is wondering "I thought it would be girls, where are the girls? as if he might have watched one too many episodes of "Jerry Springer".
