Fodor's Travel Most Disturbing Urban Legend From Every State in America

Hello and welcome to Day 21 of Countdown to Halloween.

A few days ago came across an interesting article by Meg Butler on Fodor's Travel citing Fodor's Most Disturbing Urban Legends in Every State.

I checked out the state where I live, Indiana, and found the following indicating in Indiana, the legend is the lights on Bruick Road in Fort Wayne:
"Some fun facts about Fort Wayne, Indiana: For one thing, it’s haunted by spooky lights. Drive along Bruick Road at night and they’ll pop up above the tree line, change colors and sizes, and chase your car for a while until they get bored and wander off"
Although I have lived in Fort Wayne over 30 years, I had never heard this Urban Legend before, but as it is farm country it could be combines harvesting the fields late at night.

One local Urban Legend, but not a disturbing one but much more prevalent is there being a  Phantom that haunts the Embassy Theater, that opened as the Emboyd theater around 90 years ago and recently renovated and still in use today for concerts and performances.  It is said to be a gray apparition that those that work there attribute to a former stage manager.

Check out the full article at Fodor's Most Disturbing Urban Legends in Every State and see what is in the State that you live in.   If so, were you aware of it?  Is there another Urban Legend or mystery that is not listed?   Please feel free to share in the comments section.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the other participants in this year's Countdown to Halloween in the link below.

  1. This is the one from my home state, and I actually lived and hiked through this forest. Never heard this "urban legend" before, so I am not sure I buy this list.

    The Bridgewater Triangle

    WHERE: Massachusetts

Love the Bermuda Triangle but hate water? Then come on down to Massachusetts’ Freetown-Fall River State Forest. It’s got orbs of light! Giant snakes! UFOs!!! And dozens of other unexplained events! At least those are some of the otherworldly phenomena that locals have been reporting about this spooky 200-square-mile region for years.
